ABOUT THE ARTIST
Michele Trout lives in New Freedom, PA with
her husband and two sons. Michele started
painting in 1991 when a friend suggested she
try a painting class. She worked very hard
to learn various techniques and to improve
her painting skills. In 1992, she assumed
the teaching position for her instructor who
retired to pursue other interests. Today,
Michele teaches 4 or 5 adult classes in her
home studio. She recently built a new studio
where she teaches up to 12 students at a
time. See the link on the left hand column for pictures of her new studio and of the wall murals she has painted in the foyer, powder room and studio.
Michele has been a member of the Society of Decorative Painters since 1992 and has attended 5 national conventions as well as conventions and seminars offered around the country. She has served her chapter as vice-president and president, and also is a helping artist for DecoArt paints. Michele has been designing since she started painting, and she started teaching on a national level in 1998. Michele has been published in Let's Paint, the national magazine The Decorative Painter, Quick and Easy Painting and Painting magazines.
In 2007, Michele will be teaching at HOOT in Columbus, Ohio August 14-18 and will have a booth on the trade show floor. She will also have a booth on the trade show floor at NET October 3 -7, 2007.

Michele painted two Christmas ornaments that were selected to hang on the Christmas tree in the blue room of the White House in December 2004. She was invited to a reception for all the members of the Society of Decorative Painters that painted ornaments for the White House. The picture taken of Michele (on the left) and her guest Debbie (on the right) with Mrs Bush was a highlight of their day. Michele painted ornaments for the Christmas tree in the Erie room of the Pa. Governor's residence in December 2004. Along with Judy Brillhart of the Strawbery Shop who decorated the living room with flower arrangements of pink flowers and gold accents, Michele hand painted Christmas balls of the Pa. state bird, tree, flower, fish, dog and animal as well as hand painted roses of pink and coral on white balls to coordinate with the furnishings of the room.

Michele's Fur Brush
Michele's new fur brush is great to paint teddy bears, Santa's fur, snowmen, clouds and you can even use it to paint gingerbread folks on your favorite crock. This brush can be used with a wet on wet technique or it can be used as a dry brush. It is shaped like a deerfoot brush so it is very comfortable to use. Unlike other deerfoot brushes, you can rinse paint off the brush and continue painting with it. A technique sheet is included with the brush. Basic instructions are given to paint teddy bears, snowmen, clouds, Santa fur and gingerbread folks. The wet on wet technique and the drybrush technique are described in detail. Cleaning instructions are also included. These brushes are available only through the artist.
